The Slow Reset

You are not getting dumber. You are rushing.

A 21 day program for intelligent, overloaded people who have started failing at things they are good at. Written by an engineer who went through it last week, not a coach who read about it.

Does this sound familiar

You know you are intelligent. You have proof. And lately you have been acting like someone else.

If three unrelated skills collapse at the same time, the skills are not the problem. Your state is. Intelligence does not drop in a week. Attention, patience and working memory drop in a day when you are overloaded or trying to prove something.

What this is, and what it is not

This is not IQ training. Nothing here will make you smarter and nothing honest can. What it does is get your intelligence back into the room when you need it, by changing how you approach a task: one deliberate step between seeing and acting, speed removed as a metric, your load made explicit, and attention rebuilt in short, measured sessions.

You measure your own error rate on day 2, day 10 and day 20. Not a feeling. A number.

The three weeks

Week 1. Stop the bleeding.
  1. The pause. One step between seeing and acting.
  2. Who are you proving it to. Remove the audience. Baseline test.
  3. One thing gets your best hours.
  4. Slow is a skill. Practice below your level on purpose.
  5. The three questions before you start.
  6. Fragmentation. Where your attention actually went today.
  7. Rest day. Review the week's numbers.
Week 2. Rebuild attention.

Attention training from 3 to 20 minutes, single task blocks, the second error test, noticing the itch to rush two seconds earlier, externalising working memory, and why chess, maths and code are the same mistake in three costumes.

Week 3. Make it stay.

Hard problems slow by design, deadlines without haste, the relapse day and what to do that evening, load management as a habit, the final test, and writing your own day 1 for the next time it comes back.

Each day is a ten minute read and one concrete exercise with a check in. It arrives by email every morning. You can also read it here.

Read the first three days free

Day 1 to 3 go out by email over three mornings. No card, no catch. If they help, the full program is below. If they do not, you have lost nothing and you can tell me why.

Or skip the email and read day 1 right now.

The full 21 days

₹299 ₹499

One payment. All 21 days by email and on this site, the three self tests, and a printable one page summary you will actually reread. Paying in another currency works too.

If after 21 days your error count has not moved, reply to any email and I will refund you. I would rather know than keep ₹299.

Questions people ask

Will this raise my IQ?
No. Twenty years of research on brain training says the gains do not transfer to real tasks, and I will not sell you something I know is not true. It will lower your error rate, and you will measure that yourself.
I am not an engineer. Is it still for me?
The examples are maths, code and chess because that is where I noticed it. The pattern is the same for anyone intelligent and overloaded.
How much time per day?
About ten minutes to read, and an exercise you do inside work you were already going to do. Nothing is added to your day except a pause.
Who wrote this?
A working software engineer in India with a job, a side product, a learning plan and a relationship, who spent a week making stupid mistakes at things he was good at and then worked out why. That is the whole credential.
